More than just the mat.

The Pilates Reformer

Pilates can be practiced on specialised apparatus with over 600 unique exercises for mind and body. The Pilates reformer is arguably the most famous piece of apparatus. It offers a progressive resistance with five different springs. The springs are adjusted by the teacher to make exercises more or less challenging for the client. This is an ideal piece of equipment for abdominal strengthening, hip work, leg work and spinal flexibility. It can be used in both the application of Pilates for prevention and rehabilitation of injury.

The Pilates Ladder Barrel

It is rumored Joseph Pilates had a love for beer and designed this piece of apparatus from an old beer barrel. The ladder barrel is a stable, arch-shaped dome attached to a laddered, wooden frame. Clients always feel great after working on this piece of apparatus. It is ideal for all kinds of gentle stretching of the legs, hips, back and side-body. It is also a place to explore some of the advanced Pilates repertoire, including the famous back extension exercise called ‘the swan’.
