Welcome

We love welcoming new clients to our studios and online. We also remind you that Pilates and mindfulness are medium-to-long-term commitments rather than quick fixes. For this reason, we kindly ask that only committed clients get in touch for sessions. All new clients have to fill out our new client form so we know more about your injuries, goals, and lifestyle before we meet you.

 FAQs

  • Our philosophy is to share movement practices that embrace awareness, encourage the art of full living and celebrate the human mind, body, and spirit. Our practitioners support each client in their journey toward better health by offering their skills in Pilates, yoga, and mindfulness. Our studios are available online, in Sweden and on the French Riviera.

  • We specialize in the instruction of private and semi-private Pilates and yoga. Our studio is equipped with state-of-the-art Pilates apparatus. Our teachers are experts in their field most with 10+ years of teaching experience. The atmosphere in our studio is warm, professional, and orientated towards service.

  • Pilates is a form of low-impact exercise that aims to strengthen muscles while improving postural alignment and flexibility. Pilates tends to target the core, although the exercises work other areas of your body as well. You can do Pilates with or without equipment. At our studios and online, we incorporate a variety of other modalities in our teaching including yoga, meditation and massage.

Tailored adjustments are essential in this process, where both teacher and student work together considering any health concerns, physical injuries or emotional blocks to exercises. Pilates teaches one the skill of how to sit, stand, move and breathe with ease.

There are over 600 exercises in the Pilates repertoire that can be practiced on the mat or apparatus, including the reformer, cadillac, wunda chair, tower, spring board and ladder barrel. The movements can also be achieved with limited space and equipment. Pilates is suited to men and women of all life stages. It is an especially kind way to move during and after child birth and throughout menopause.

  • Pilates is ideal for clients with injuries, pain and health concerns. The practice is completely safe for clients of all ages and fitness levels. Pilates is proven to:

    • Increase muscle strength and tone

    • Reduce stress

    • Improve mobility and flexibility

    • Improve bone density

    • Improve posture

    • Support breathing with increased lung capacity and improved circulation

    • Rehabilitation and prevention of injuries

    • Improve physical coordination and balance

  • Meditation incorporates a variety of practices that bring attention to one’s breath in the present moment. Although the practice is not intended to achieve anything, there are many positive effects including reducing negative emotions and supporting people with stress.

  • The emotional and physical benefits of meditation include an improved ability to deal with stress, reducing negative thoughts and emotions, increasing imagination and creativity, improving sleep quality.

A regular meditation practice is proven to support people with various medical conditions, including those that are made worse by stress.

    This includes:

    • Anxiety

    • Asthma

    • Cancer

    • Chronic pain

    • Depression

    • Heart disease

    • High blood pressure

  • As a teacher, I have completed a Comprehensive Pilates Teaching Qualification with Body Arts and Science International (BASI), which includes specialised theoretical and practical training taken over the course of one year. In addition, I hold a 200-hour Mat Teaching Qualification through BASI and continued professional development training in Pilates for Injuries & Pathologies and Pilates for Pre- and Post-Pregnancy. I have been teaching full time since 2015 with 10,000+ hours of client teaching experience. I founded and currently own a specialised Pilates and yoga studio in the south of France (The Studio Côte d'Azur) which has been open for over eight years. For the last three years, I have offered specialised Pilates teaching online through The Studio Online. In 2023, I opened a specialised Pilates studio in Skåne, Sweden (The Studio of Sweden). I regularly travel internationally to teach Pilates and advise other teachers and Pilates studios. I am professionally insured to teach Pilates worldwide except for Canada and the US. Outside of Pilates, I am a lifelong student of the mind-body approach to wellbeing. In 2022, I took a year sabbatical to study a 9-month course in healing trauma. I am also a student of daily meditation. All my co-teachers and team members here are selected for their experience, expertise and professionalism in the fields of Pilates and meditation.

  • I draw on expert knowledge and findings from emerging scientific research to create a tailored Pilates 1:1 program – combining exercises on the Pilates mat with the larger apparatus – that support your specific health and well-being needs. Kindly note I am not qualified to diagnose illness or injury or prescribe exercises for injuries or illness. For this, you will always be redirected to a physiotherapist, osteopath or health care professional. I have other qualifications and work experience, particularly in the fields of trauma, yoga, meditation and breath work, and often bring these ideas into my Pilates teaching.

  • Studio Founder Bianca Ljungberg teaches in only English. Our fellow practitioners offer sessions in both Swedish and English.

  • Booking can be done via the Acuity booking link on our website or via email to: info@thestudioofsweden.com

  • We offer payment via Swish, credit card or bank transfer.

  • We believe that Pilates is best offered in a 1:1 environment where exercises and modifications are tailored to your individual injuries, goals and experience. Our teaching is of the highest quality, and all our teachers are qualified with the world’s best Pilates training academies.

In order to feel and experience results, it is our recommendation that clients commit to a weekly practice of Pilates for 6-12 months. Clients who are in need of Pilates and cannot afford it, are invited to apply for our donation sessions which take place every Tuesday at 09:00.

  • We understand life gets busy, but we also ask that clients respect our time. It is industry standard and necessary for the healthy functioning of our studio to have a cancellation policy of 24-hours. We apply our cancellation policy strictly and without favor.

  • Pilates is best practiced in comfortable gym clothing without any buttons or zips as this can damage the apparatus. Kindly do not wear any heavy jewelry or perfume. For our Pilates practitioners, it is mandatory to wear socks, preferably Pilates socks with non-slip padding at the bottom.

  • The beauty of Pilates online is that it can be practiced from the comfort of your own home with limited space and equipment. Our online studio is run by studio founder Bianca Ljungberg out of Sweden, where she is based. She teaches private sessions throughout the week to our clients all over the world, including the UK, Denmark, Germany, Amsterdam, and South Africa.

We ask clients to set up their space as follows:

    • A quiet place to practice with no disruptions

    • A yoga or Pilates mat

    • A fully charged laptop/iPad with a strong internet connection

Regular online mat clients are required to have a Pilates small ball, theraband, and foam roller. We work with our microphones and cameras on for tailored adjustments and live feedback between client and teacher.

  • Online private and semi-private sessions are hosted on Zoom at the same address each time:
